Some of my favorites here (Apricot Sky and The Fortnight in September--what joys!), some I've been meaning to get around to (How the Heather Looks), and others that look intriguing! What a great list. Also I didn't realize Ruth Sanderson had done an illustrations for the Golden Key. It's my favorite of his fairy tales that I've read.
Thank you! Illustrating The Golden Key was Sanderson's passion project. It was published just a few years ago. In her book about her art, Golden Dreams, she shows a few sketches from this project, mentioning how she hopes to publish it one day. You can see a gallery of the illustrations in a lovely article she wrote here: <https://www.worksofmacdonald.com/ruth-sanderson-unlocking-wonder>
The headings made me laugh! So clever! And these are such fun recommendations. I loved Apricot Sky, My Family and Other Animals, and The Fortnight in September. I am intrigued by Fellowship Point and The Lost Book of the Grail. Oh yes and My Life in France! 😍 I should revisit that. I’m in the mood for food and travel writing this summer.
Thank you! I knew there would be a few of your favorites on here--I heard of Apricot Sky and The Fortnight in September through you. Fellowship Point is marvelous, and as a Trollope fan you would enjoy the Barchester references in The Lost Book of the Grail. There's much more to the story than that (I hadn't read any Trollope the first time I read that novel) but it's extra fun to recognize the names and places.
I read and really enjoyed The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane.
That's one of my all-time favorites. So glad you enjoyed. Thank you, Melisa!

You’re welcome! And that’s so great! I always love recognizing the literary allusions. 👏🏻
Love this kind of reading list!! I've added a bunch to my ever-growing scroll of Future Library Holds.
Thank you so much! A well-stocked TBR is a summer bounty.
